A featureless robot is suspended in the void, its metal frame slowly rotating in place. As it rotates, it can see the other featureless robots around it, all suspended in the void at different angles, rotating and unable to move.

Suddenly, a new robot popped in. This wasn't too rare of an occurence though. What was rare is what happened next.
A featurelesss robot nearby let out a loud clank and its rotation slowed to a halt. Then it's body slowly sunk down into the void, away from the rest of the robots.
Some time later, when the first sunken robot appeared as a tiny dot below, another robot clanked and started sinking just the same. This continued on in a similar fashion, but sometimes two robots would stop and sink in a quick succession with little pause.

Finally, the robot that watched all of this clanked and stopped rotating too. It felt the clank all over it's metallic body.

Then, as it were sinking, it gazed upwards. Seeing all the robots that were still rotating up above, it for the first time ever contemplated the shape of the void it was suspended in.
