Once upon a time, a scorpion found itself on the banks of a wide river, longing to reach the other side. It looked around, searching for a way to cross the water.
"Dear friend," said the scorpion, "I am in need of crossing this river, for I cannot swim. Will you allow me to climb onto your back?"
There was silence. Then the scorpion continued to speak.
"Dear frog," the scorpion said, "I know you may be wary of my venomous nature, but fear not. I have no intention of harming you. If you carry me across, we shall both reach the other side unscathed."
After a brief pause the scorpion jumped on the spot and then walked straight into the river.

The jumping spider appeared out of nowhere.
"Too late for this one." she said, looking at the foam and bubbles on the surface of the river.
Then she disappeared once again.
