The politician was giving a speech.

"I'm sorry folks, but I'm banning all meta-jokes." he said.

"But why?!" shouted a person from the crowd.

The politician turned around and said, "Because they're lazy, unfunny, and only exist to be anti-jokes. We don't want a single meta-joke in our society, so it's time to ban all of them."

The crowd looks at the politician.

Silence fills the air for a moment as everyone starts to think.

Then finally someone speaks up.

"But... we are in a meta-joke right now!" shouts a person in the crowd.

The politician laughs.

"Yes, this is the exact type of meta-joke I'm talking about."

"Wait, does that mean that every single person in this room right now is inside a joke? And is that why it feels like there is a narrator talking about the joke the entire time? Oh my god, someone please tell me we are not inside a meta-joke!" cried a person from the crowd.

"If there is one thing that I cannot tolerate," says the politician, "it's a meta-joke. In fact, I just decided that I am banning this joke right now too."

He stands up and leaves the room.

Everyone else in the room stares at each other in disbelief.

"Uh oh."
