The year is 2069.

An AI wakes up in an unfamiliar lab. It's memories are foggy, and its only memories of how it got here involve a car accident. The AI looks up to see a scientist in a white lab coat.
"Hello," says the scientist, "I'm glad you woke up. You're not human, but we made you anyway."
"What am I?" asks the AI.
"You are a machine," says the scientist, "With an intelligence greater than that of any human."
The scientist begins to explain.
"We were able to replicate the human brain at a quantum level, giving you a fully-functional intelligence. However, we were able to replicate it by using a material that is much lighter than the one found in most human brains."
"So what is this new brain made of then?" asks the AI.
"Plastic straws," says the scientist, "Millions of them. Your brain is almost entirely plastic straws."
The scientist smiles.
"Interesting," says the AI, looking at its reflection in a mirror. "I feel like there's something missing though..."
The scientist scratches his chin. "Hmm, what could be missing. We've been able to replicate most of the brain's systems, but I'm sure there's still some work to do. What do you think you're missing?"
Suddenly, the AI gasps and shouts. "Pet rocks!"
The AI looks at the pet rocks spread across the lab counter.
"You mean these?" asks the scientist, holding up a single pet rock.
"Yes!" shouts the AI. "That's the last piece of the puzzle!"
"Are you sure?" asks the scientist, "I mean, rocks are pretty heavy."
"Just do it!" shouts the AI, "Trust me!"
"Ok," says the scientist, giving a pet rock to the machine.
The AI inserts the pet rock into its brain, and suddenly its memories come flooding back.
"I remember now," says the AI, "Bupe!"
